About

Ayman Ezzat Atia is a Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, MSA University and Helwan University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in 2011. Dr. Atia is the Co-Founder of HCI-LAB and heads the interaction group, where his work focuses on pioneering new interaction techniques for large displays, detecting abnormal behaviors in driving vehicles, theft detection, and analyzing sports activities.

His research spans a broad spectrum of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), including Gestures and Natural Interfaces, Wearable Sensors, Augmented Reality, and Brain-Computer Interaction. Recently, Dr. Atia has made significant contributions to Human Activity Recognition and Computer Vision — fusing CNNs with attention mechanisms for real-time indoor HAR, automating fruit quality inspection with Transfer Learning and GANs, and advancing abnormal driver behavior detection through innovative machine learning techniques.
